Allegra Hamilton is proud to support the following local organizations as part of the 2010 FootPRINT Fund for nonprofit friends:

Dundas Museum and Archives. Previously Dundas Museum used FootPrint funding to produce and distribute promotional postcards. The results were outstanding, and the initiative gets renewed life with a 2010 Footprint Award. Dundas Museum is an independent community facility which has been preserving community history for 53 years.
Welcome Inn Community Centre of Hamilton. Welcome Inn will use its FootPRINT funds for the printing of flyers to promote its bizPLAN Program, which trains low-income individuals on how to establish businesses and/or improve their financial literacy, enabling them to move from poverty to prosperity.
The Strathcona Community Council will be using its award to enhance its welcome package with large maps to introduce new residents to neighbourhood services. The council is a volunteer-run group promoting a strong sense of community in the area north of Main Street, south of the Harbour, west of Queen Street and East of Highway 403.
L’Arche Hamilton. L’Arche Hamilton, which is receiving its third FootPrint Award this year, is using its funding assistance to print greeting cards featuring artwork created by members of its day program. L’Arche Hamilton is part of a worldwide network of over 120 communities where men and women with and without developmental disabilities share life together.
Niwasa Aboriginal Education Programs. This group provides early intervention programs for the health and well-being of Urban Aboriginal students in our community. They will use the FootPrint award to print flyers promoting new initiatives launching in the fall of 2010.
Epilepsy Seizure Disorder of Greater Hamilton. This group was created in 2007 to improve the quality of life of people affected by epilepsy through education, community awareness, advocacy and support. The FootPRINT fund will help further those efforts in 2010 with an updated brochure design to promote healthy living.
Hamilton Partners in Nutrition. This group represents a partnership of community agencies and community members that support and facilitate student nutrition programs. It will use its FootPrint award for production of a banner stand to promote this initiative and create awareness.
The Bikes Blades and Boards Program at Hamilton Health Sciences is dedicated to injury prevention education for Hamilton area Grade 2 students. The FootPrint award will help produce a concise, easy-to-read brochure for children to take home to share with their families.
SACHA, Sexual Assault Centre Hamilton and Area. SACHA provides free and confidential counselling for women 16 or older who have experienced sexual violence. SACHA will use its award to print business cards promoting its crisis support line telephone number, and to produce a much-needed informational brochure.
Woodview. Congratulations to the team at Woodview as they celebrate 50 years of assisting children, youth and their families by providing prevention and treatment services to address social, emotional and behavioural problems. Woodview, an accredited Children’s Mental Health Centre, will use its FootPrint Award to promote a free community BBQ in May and an anniversary dinner in November.
The Wismer Foundation recognizes and rewards the excellence of both high school athletes and their coaches. The organization will use its FootPrint award toward the design and printing of materials for a charity golf tournament.
Kirkendall Neighbourhood Association is a non-profit citizens group working to promote a strong liveable community. The FootPrint Award will help produce brochures to promote benefits of membership.
The Hamilton Aquatic Water Polo Club: Raising awareness about water polo is the goal of this organization that provides the opportunity for people ages 8 and up to play at both recreational and competitive levels. FootPRINT funds will help the club design a brochure that will be distributed through community recreation centres.
Parents without Partners. This year’s FootPrint Award, the group’s second, will let them produce a banner to enhance the group’s visibility in the community. Parents without Partners is an international, non-profit organization devoted to the interest of single parents and their children.
Hamilton Council on Aging will use its FootPRINT award to produce a stand-up banner to promote the agency’s vision and mission. The Council was formed three years ago to educate the public on social, economic and health aspects of aging.
The Imperial Cotton Centre for the Arts will use its award to produce a stand-up display to promote its mission at several events the centre hosts or participates in. The Centre’s mission is to make the creation, exploration and self-presentation of artistic works affordable for artists in every discipline.
The YMCA of Hamilton/Burlington: Allegra is pleased to support the YMCA again this year, with funding that will assist in the production of nomination and promotional materials for their Peace Medal Breakfast event honouring individuals or groups who have created positive social change either locally or abroad.
The Multiple Sclerosis Society, Hamilton Chapter: Allegra is pleased once again to support the annual MS Walk through our FootPRINT fund will help offset promotional costs associated with the annual MS Walk. Funds will assist a number of related initiatives including a newsletter, pledge sheets and flyers.
Saltfleet Figure Skating Club. I am pleased to note that previous FootPrint Awards have helped drive increases in registration for this organization, a recreational skating club that helps kids enjoy the sport without the pressure of competition. It will use this year’s award to redesign their brochure and attract more youth to experience the joy of skating.
Flamborough Information and Community Services. Founded in 1977 to enhance community life, this group will use its FootPrint award to produce brochures promoting a new seniors group that has come under its umbrella.
Peer to Peer Mentoring. This organization trains volunteers on income support programs to help others requiring the same support. The FootPrint fund will help the group elevate awareness to promote its activities in the community.
Catholic Family Services of Hamilton. This group will uses its funds to draw attention to its location by enhancing it’s signage facing passing traffic on Main Street. Catholic Family Services is committed to improving the quality of life for all individuals and families throughout the community.
Community Information Hamilton. This community information and referral service is looking to building awareness about new Child Care Services that are available in the community. The FootPrint award will enable production of a new logo to help brand these services.
Community Transition Network. The aim of this organization is to promote healthy living and quality of life for young adults with disabilities as they transition into adult living. The FootPrint award will be used to produce educational handouts and brochures to promote a quarterly education forum.
Dundas Pipes and Drums. This group has been bringing the traditions and love of Highland music to our community for more than 60 years, meeting twice weekly to provide free instruction in both piping and drumming. FootPrint fund will provide materials to support a planned recruitment project to increase the number of active student members.
Coalition of Citizens Concerned About Long Term Care. Dedicated to providing adequate housing for families who have a member with a disability, the Coalition is in the process of re-imaging itself as Freedom House. FootPrint funds will assist in this transition by helping to develop a new logo and brochure.
Mountain Kidz Club. Now it their 11th year, this group provides affordable program for struggling families on the Mountain. FootPrint funds will assist in creating a distinct logo to promote their mission and become recognizable in their community.
Student Open Circles. Open Circles co-ordinates weekly teams of McMaster students who give over 9,000 hours of volunteer service to children’s educational programs, shelters and programs for people living with disabilities. The FootPrint Award will help with printing of greeting cards to raise funds.
John Howard Society of Hamilton, Burlington and Area. The Society will use its FootPrint Award to design a Youth Justice Services guide, a new communications piece. John Howard Society was founded in 1949 and provides assistance to individuals and families who have been, or face imminent risk, of being in conflict with the law.
Social Planning and Research Council of Hamilton – Street Youth Planning Collaborative. This collaborative, which includes Good Shepherd Youth Services, Living Rock Ministries, Wesley Urban Ministries, Catholic Family Services and Alternatives for youth, meets once a month to address the needs of homeless youth. The award will help the group develop materials to heighten community awareness.
Rygiel Supports for Community Living. This group will use its FootPrint Award for promotional posters and sponsor sheets for a Walkathon this September. Rygiel provides residential, respite and community participation programs to children and adults who have a developmental disability and multiple other handicapping conditions.
Canadian Hard of Hearing Association. This volunteer self-help group provides support, information and education to people who are hard of hearing. The group will uses it FootPrint Funding to improve the look of it’s newsletter.
Hamilton Tiger Squadron: Royal Canadian Air Cadets. This group is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2010, and will use its award to create a distinct logo to mark the occasion and celebrate its many accomplishments.
The Blossom Club. This group will receive assistance designing a brochure to help promote its many fitness and wellness programs for women, especially those with disabilities and/or chronic health issues. The club also serves seniors with or without disabilities.
Canadian Diabetes Association. This group has been leading the fight against diabetes for more than 50 years, helping people with diabetes live healthy lives until a cure is found. The FootPrint funds will be used for printing for its Blue Circle campaign, a fundraiser that marks World Diabetes Day on November 14.
The Hamilton Dream Centre. Founded six years ago, the Dream Centre helps our community’s most vulnerable members with a food and clothing bank, aid to Northern Ontario reservices, legal will service, neighborhood cleanups as well as breakfast and snack programs. The FootPrint award will support the group’s Christmas fund-raising gala with tickets, posters and bulletins.
Ancaster Society for the Performing Arts. This group organizes free outdoor concerts that run throughout the summer at Fieldcote Park and Museum. The group will use its funding to create and produce new brochures to promote the event throughout the community.
Adult Basic Education Association. This group supports adults looking to upgrade literacy and basic skills, promotes life-long learning and supports agencies delivering adult skills upgrading. It is looking to produce a provincial clear writing tool for 16 learning networks and is tapping into the Footprint Fund as a project support partner.
Glanbrook Home Support Program. This FootPrint award will help promote the group’s Meals Made Easy Program. This organization provides supportive services to seniors and adults with disabilities to help them live safely and independently in their own homes.
The Rotary Club of Flamborough AM and Waterdown. Mark your calendars – these two Rotary Clubs are launching their first Oh Canada Ribfest that runs July 1 – 4 this year. The Allegra FootPrint fund helped create a logo and materials to support the launch of this major fundraiser.
Living Rock Ministries. Celebrating it’s 25th anniversary assisting at risk youth, this organization has been making a difference for young people in our community since 1985. The FootPrint funding will enable Living Rock to promote their annual Soupfest fundraiser.
Boys and Girls Clubs of Hamilton. This organization has been making a difference for young people in our community for more than six decades! The FootPrint funding will enable the Boys and Girls Club to promote a fundraising campaign to subsidize a camp experience for kids who would otherwise miss out.
