Knitted Knockers is an organization dedicated to providing special handmade breast prosthesis for women who have undergone mastectomies or other procedures to the breast. These soft comfortable lightweight prosthesis are available for free. They are knit with love by many wonderful volunteer knitters across Canada. Some women find traditional breast prosthetics too expensive, heavy, sweaty and uncomfortable. Also traditional prosthesis often cannot be worn for weeks after surgery. Knitted Knockers on the other hand are soft, comfortable, and beautiful when placed in a regular bra they take the shape and feel of a real breast. Knitted Knockers can also be used to fill the gap for breasts that are uneven and easily adapted for those going through reconstruction by simply removing some of the stuffing.

Knitted Knockers is funded by donations only. The Knockers are all made by volunteer knitters who provide their own supplies. Once they are made they are sent to Knitted Knockers Canada for distribution. Knitted Knockers doesn’t spend any money on promotional materials and needed something to hand out at community events to raise awareness of their program not only for potential recipients but also for potential knitters. Through FootPRINT Fund we designed and produced a brochure that tells their story and guides knitters to the pattern.
